| Responding to Disruptive Behavior |
The Responding to Disruptive Behavior workshop is couched in Positive Behavior Support and the MindSet Safety Management Curriculum. This workshop assists teachers in understanding the dynamics surrounding disruptive behaviors. Through the activities and information presented, teachers will learn effective techniques to evoke lasting behavior change in their classrooms. Teachers who are responsive will benefit by creating an environment that promotes self-management. During the workshop, teachers are encouraged to think about disruptive behavior in a "solution oriented" manner. Rather than focusing on rule violations and punishment, we focus on problem solving and the development of self-management skills. The workshop includes discussion, role play scenarios, and experiential learning activities. The Responding to Disruptive Behavior Workshop is a 3-4 hour presentation that is best delivered to groups of 15 - 20 participants.
| Behavior Interventions That Work |
Individualized Behavior Interventions That Work are the focus of this workshop. There are numerous behavioral interventions that have made a difference in the lives of students and teachers alike. Through the years, I have collected many alternative strategies to assist students with disruptive behavior and have created a teacher friendly format in which to share these ideas. I have conducted numerous Functional Behavioral ssessments and created Behavior Intervention Plans since the 1997 re-authorization of IDEA. During this workshop, we will take a group of teachers through the process of developing and monitoring specific behavior interventions. This is a four hour workshop that is best delivered to groups of 15 - 20 participants.
I offer individualized team building workshops in order to assist in the development of a cohesive and effective staff. I have used outdoor adventure based initiative activities as a tool in classrooms with students and with staff at schools. Using the experiential learning activities as a backdrop, a group can learn tremendous amounts of information about their particular style of problem solving. They can be challenged to make some changes in the way they approach problems and can achieve personal growth along the way. These workshops are fun; they promote communication and acceptance of individual differences. Team building workshops can be customized to meet the needs of your organization. Typically, they take place in either a half day or full day sessions with groups of 10 - 15 staff members.
